are any ports blocked at the node level?

I've been trying to set up squid for a private proxy. After a bunch of head-banging I've determined that as long as I don't use the default port of 3128 it works fine. I tried a bunch of random ports, even 3127 and 3129, and all work, just not 3128. It's not a firewall issue since it doesn't work with it off (apf -f) either. I can connect from localhost to 3128 fine, but trying from anywhere else doesn't work.

Now, I know I can just run it on some other port, but it makes me wonder why that port isn't working. Are any ports blocked on the node level, or the datacenter level?

    Hi wuurp,

No we do not block any ports on the node nor on the network. Have you tried flushing the firewall rules on your VPS completely (iptables -F) - because it could be that some iptables rule was still blocking it after you flushed APF.

    Hi Andre,

Ok, I tried flushing with iptables -F also, but still can't connect on 3128. I guess I'll just use another port. It is puzzling though.

    Thanks

If you would like one of our techs to take a look at this for you, please open a support ticket, they might be able to find something.
