    Number of process (numproc)

In Virtuozzo - Resources - Primary UBC Parameters, we can see the number of process created by the VPS (numproc).

If I compare this number with the one in Virtuozzo - System Processes (or the number of task obtain from a top command), there is sometime a huge difference.

If I have 395 numproc but only 78 system process at the same time, where are these other 317 process coming from??

    Thanks for your help.

I believe numproc includes more than just the system processes you see using ps, it also includes kernel threads and such. I'm trying to find more about it from SWSoft.

Here is the info from SWSoft:

'numproc' parameter - is a maximum number of processes and kernel-level threads. 'numproc' is called so for historical reasons; actually it counts tasks.

So you need to compare the number of running _threads_ in the VPS (append -L or m switch to ps) with numproc.

    Thanks Veena!

Seems strange that this numproc was stuck above "300"... but restarting the VPS have made it drop to normal values like "60". It stay at this level since then. I will keep an eye on this! Thanks again!
