    auto chmod from 666 to 222???

    Hi everyone

    I was trying to run a script installation on my site, the script request chmod a file to 666, I did it, I chck it again and it is 666, i run the script again, it request again to chmod to 666, i check the file again, it became 222 automatically!!!

    I did it many times, it back to 222 whenever i try to run the installation... how can i solve this problem???

    I don't know the cause, but I've had similar problems before. What always worked for me was changing the permissions from the file manager in cpanel. When I changed them with SmartFTP, they always changed back.

    Why do you need a file set to 666? Since pretty much everything will now run under your own UID now there usually isn't a need for wide open permissions like that. Try using 644 (or even 600) instead.

    As for why the permission gets changed to 222, I have no idea. It could have something to do with the script, but without seeing the code, it is impossible to say.
