    shoutcast on semi dedicated?

is it allowed or no? i know its allowed on vps and your own dedicated, but i wasnt 100% sure about semi dedicated (which is the plan i currently have). if it isnt, is there any streaming audio setup that is allowed on semi dedicated? looking at doing live radio shows for our site here and there (but not constantly).

No, it isn't allowed because you can't run background processes (ie server daemons) on shared plans (which includes SDX). I don't know of any kind of audio streaming available on JPC's shared servers. In order to do an audio stream I think you'll need to upgrade to VPS or dedicated.

If it is a small number and you have broadband at home, just run it on your Local PC,

even if i wanted to to do that i can run 480 kbps max upload. that means if i run at a decent rate such as 96kbps or so per listener i can really only get 5 listeners on my radio.

we are going to be doing like live one hour shows plus maybe some prerecorded stuff here and there. im thinking at most we would have 50 users on at a time for now, but eventually itd reach around the 100 mark.

you have 2 options then, Get a Better Line at your House, your only at 480??

or get a VPS, you can do prerecorded stuff on SDX but I dont know of a way to do live streaming with out a daemon, and daemons are not allowed on SDX servers........

daemons are the devils work and should be abolished to the depths of helll
