    Simple Machines Forum and Jaguarpc incompatibilities

    Hi,
    the support staff of the forum installed in my site (Simple Machines Forum) said that my forum has some problems because of old version of php and mysql installed (see here and here )

    Do you think is it true? Thanks

    No, MYSQL5 has not been implemented because like PHP5 no all programs will work with Mysql 5, thus it cant be installed with out breaking peoples web sites. Unlike php mysql 4 and 5 cant be run at the same time.

    I think they are grasping at straws. I am SMF installed with the same configuration you have with no problems

    I don't think the upgrade path from MySQL 4 to 5 is impressively hard, not at all. It just doesn't offer much extra for the standard shared hosting environment, so WHM/cPanel probably hasn't gotten around to it and is in no hurry to get around to it.

    They're clutching at straws. Looks like they have no clue what the problem is and are throwing very generic "might help" things your way, just short of "why don't you format C:\ and reinstall windows?"

    Going by the post made here in the thread linked to from yours, my guess is their array_unique function doesn't work properly with accented letters.

    And to think, their support team used to come up with good solutions to problems....
