    Possibility of switching server?

What are the possibilities of being able to switch servers? Our server is on ewok and we have had issues with how stable it is. I didn't know if it is an easy process of being moved to another server and what that would all entail for us (what we would be required to do on our end to make it happen right).

Also, I was told something about having a backup site? Does that mean if our site went down we would have a backup for people to view or is that just meaning we get our site backed up every so often just in case of a crash?

If you can elaborate that what are the issues that you are having with Ewok then we will be able to investigate and get it fixed. Our servers are not oversold so if any server is having some issue then that might be due to any of the user or script that can be tracked easily. I would suggest opening a support ticket and we will assist you further.

For your second question, I would suggest reading the following KB:

The problem with ewok is it goes down basically every Sunday for us in ten minute intervals. I go to the server status and see it down each time our site isn't up. It also seems to be the only server that is down that often.

That sure sounds like a script of some sort is overloading a service (like Apache) which is falling over and being reset automagically.

Let support know when things like this happen!
    Good luck

i know that one of the owners for the site has down a support ticket at least twice now. at first they thought it was just us but when we come here to check it ewok is almost always down. its hard to send a support ticket on something that is down in 10 minute intervals. its like bringing a car into get worked on that only acts up periodically.

    That begs the question...

What happens if it's your 'car' that's bringing the server down?

Switching 'garages' will do nothing, yes?

well then if it is our 'car' then can someone check into it and see what is running wrong? i dont want to be responsible for a server going down and i certainly dont want some script of ours causing our site to be down at all.

The only reason I mentioned this is... JagPC moved me twice.

The first server I was on died, and JagPC shuffled all the clients on that machine to various other servers. Nobody's fault really! It was a new server and it was jinked or something. Just one of those weird things, you know?

The second server was nice, but it died almost every night during scheduled backups. After going through this on 'n off for over a year, I asked to be moved...

On the third server, server loads were continually high, and it was crashing sporadically. I was getting ready to ask them to move me again, when Tech Support discovered it was my site[s] causing the problem - too much traffic - using too many resources.

They say, a skunk always smells himself first! I just wanted you to be prepared for the consequences...

If someone else is causing the problem, fine. If it's your site[s], moving will just prolong the inevitable - an account upgrade.

Someday I hope I need an account upgrade, but at the moment we don't even come close to using our max performance yet. Also, these things occur usually during our off peak times. If it is my site then it is some sort of script and not traffic (unfortunately).

In that case, you probably have a rouge neighbor... and since we're all jailed these days, there's nothing YOU can do except contact Tech Support via the Ticket System!

Hang in there, and remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease...
