    Angry Problem with Add On

First--I set up my main domain with a Wordpress blog. Now, I want to add on another domain and move it over to this host. So I've added the domain on and pointed it to my directory. However, the only thing that shows up is the index page and none of the images and other pages will work even though they are uploaded and there on the site (and in the right places being called).

    Example: www.womanyoubecome.com/wog

So can someone tell me why this is happening? Is it because I have a blog on the main directory as the main site? If so, how can I move it if it's the main directory?

I'm so frustrated. The code on the pages looks perfectly fine, so I have no idea why nothing (even the css!) isn't showing up when it's there. All permissions are set at 644 and higher too. No directory protections on and no hotlink protections are on. Please help!

    Heather,
I would check your directory permissions - not just the file permissions?

For example, when I go directly to:
    http://www.weddingsofgrace.com/css/main.css
Server returns 403 forbidden errors. Due to the latest server upgrades, you'll need check your directory permissions or file permissions and change them to change 644, or 755. (Don't use global writes 777 or group writes 775).

Thanks! I'm reuploading the site too, because I was told because I extracted it right on the server the settings for it were probably incorrect (binary and ascii). So I'm uploading the files manually now, and hopefully that will work. I am doing the images directory now and I can see images for the first time! But I will also check my settings on permissions!! Thank you.

Well, that's what it turned out to be. Now that I've reuploaded all the files individually, the pages show up!

I am so delighted. Lesson learned--don't extract your zip files on the server.

Thanks for your responses, Mike. I was worried I'd be alone here on a Saturday morning!

    Hmm INTERESTING!

I always unzip the files on the server because it saves time with uploading... I've never had a problem!

I wonder why it didn't work this time!

    Heh!

    I do just the opposite...

The only files I "unzip" on the server are ones that were created on the server!

I like to take a look at the files on my local machine first - check the code for errors - setup config files in advance - do file comparisons (if its an upgrade) - and so forth, and so on. Then, I upload the files to the server.

I dunno... maybe I'm a little paranoid, but how do you know somebody hasn't hacked the author's site and stuck a root kit in there or something - you know?

Don't laugh - stuff like that happens!

Thank you so much for the compliments on the site, but I cannot take credit. The designer is a marvelous lady, and the owner of the site is as well. I'm just the owner's virtual assistant.

I was moving her site from one host she had to this one, because she's going to use JaguarPC for her hosting needs solely now (yay!). I zipped the files myself from the original host and moved them to this one. So maybe that was the issue. I don't know. But it seemed uploading them one at a time worked like a charm, just took a little more time.

But I'll pass along the praises of the site to the designer and owner. They will be pleased as punch! Me...I just help update content on it.
