    Questions about semi-dedicated hosting.

I have a few questions about semi-dedicated hosting before I buy the hosting:

    1) Can I install 123flashchat server on my hosting?

example of 123flashchat here click here

    2) The PHP setting for max_input_time needs to be set to -1 can this be done?

    3) Can FFMPEG and mEncoder be installed on my hosting or is it already?

    4) Can I install Red5 on my hosting?

    5) It says 100GB starter for space but what about if more is needed?

    6) Can you transfer my site for me?

    7) I have been for hostgator for 3 years now and never had issues with them, its just I need to install software on the host and this is the cheapest dedicated hosting I could find if the above questions are a yes. How long has Jaguarpc been running and do the servers go down alot if at all?

An answer to all these would be nice if I can do all these I will want to transfer asap.

123flashchat requires root level access which is not available on semi-dedicated. Your best bet would be to get a VPS (virtual private server) plan according to your needs, where you will have full root access to install server level software such as 123flashchat.

That list contains very outdated OS, may be they forgot to update their page. Please check with them if it works on Linux Redhat Enterprise 5 / CentOS 5 then you can get a linux vps.

Unless I am missing something you should be able to install Java on the VPS Server...

Everyone knows that jvm needs "memory". You should have asked the software vendor for how much memory is required for their software to work and then you can choose the appropriate plan.

If it need 11.8GB of RAM, I would look at another app......

I dont even know if Jags Servers have that much RAM installed, While Linux can be made to support large amounts of ram, the Normal Server is 4-8GB of RAM...

hell until the 64bit processors came out it was IMPOSSIBLE to have more than 4gb anyway, Windows still only supports 4GB...

Our vps nodes are setup with 16GB since long. So memory is never a problem with the vps.

If one person is using 11.6GB of 16Gb that would be a problem
