You have to recompile php through /scripts/easyapache to get E-accelerator installed. This can also be done through "WHM >> Apache update" feature but you need administrator access. We do not offer E-accelerator on our shared/semi dedicated servers. If you are on a shared/SDX package and you really need to get it installed, you may have to upgrade to a VPS package.

Huh? Masood announced it available on all shared accounts a year ago:
    Cpanel 11: phpsuexec to suPHP

    Was that dropped again? Why?

You can open a support ticket and tell us the PHP version you are using and we will install E-Accelerator for you.

Thanks for pointing that out so this confusion could be cleared. It is not part of the default setup and I could not find it on our latest setup server, which is what prompted me to state in my previous reply. However I believe it can be installed on explicit requests.

It wasn't "dropped again". It wasn't included in the first place because it was found not compatible with suphp:

Shared Server cPanel and PHP Upgrades

Please refer to this KB article that has the lastest info about what was changed from phpsuexec to suphp:

also if you run phpinfo() on an suPHP server - the eAccelerator portion says:
    Caching Enabled false
    Optimizer Enabled false
    It seems this guy:

How about introducing APC? Is that supported by cPanel and suPHP?

Does the accelerator increase the speed of the Joomla! 1.5 on the shared hosting?

No. It doesn't do anything at all on JagPCs shared hosting - see post higher up in this thread by Masood, the CTO.

Lol.. did it show that much? This wasn't meant in a bad way at all. Just a straight factual answer..

(I think an opcode cache can do nice things on SDX and would like to see that tried and results reported to us, but I really doubt it helps a regular shared server; too many different things for a chace to be effective.)
