From what I can tell, my site - www.lantanalinks.com - has been down for several hours. This is unacceptable! Any ideas on when it will be back up?

We are sorry for the inconvenience. The server is currently down and our techs are checking it. Currently it is FSCK'ing. Once the FSCK is over the server will be back up. For details please check the following thread:

We appreciate your patience with this issue. We will keep the above thread posted with updates.
I have been using Jag for 5 yrs and have NEVER had my site down for as long as it is today. I cannot tell you how upset I am right now...
Ron hit the nail on the head. One day down in 5 years of hosting is almost impossible. Way to go JaguarPC for some excellent service.
If one day of down service in 5 years gets you upset - you should look into the fail-over service offered.
In all fairness, he wrote it's never been down "as long as it is today". This tells little about how often his site has been down. Also, if as Ron presumes he has one whole day of downtime now, which I would think of as 12 or even 24 hours, that is indeed quite a stretch.
Hope it's back up soon!
As for "unacceptable": is it really? It will cost you quite a bit extra to shield against this rare occurrence..

I expect 1% downtime -- 3.65 full days per year. If the current technology can't keep me up better than that, I'd have to switch to a more robust platform.
As Wim says, if the cost (or frustration!) of being down for a day exceeds the cost of a higher availability system that will meet your needs, then you should consider such an investment. Otherwise, it's just a(n opportunity) cost of this business.
