Would UK hosting mean faster access time in Europe?

In the interview with Greg on the Jag Blog there is a mentioning of a JaguarPC datacenter in UK.

Do you have shared hosting in this datacenter?

If you do, could you move an account from a datacenter in the U.S. to UK?

Since I'm based in Sweden the access time to the datacenter in Houston is much longer compared to hosting i Sweden (which is very notable when transferring a large amount of small files of SFTP, it takes ages). Would a move to the datacenter in the UK result in faster access time for customers in Europe?

A move probably would speed up your access times and I don't see why JPC wouldn't be able or willing to move you. I'm not sure that the UK DC is actually online, yet though. Jag mentioned they were setting up new data centers a while back in these forums. I'm sure if they were online and ready to go he'd make another announcement--especially for UK since I'm sure there are several Europe-based customers that might want to consider a move.

They are online, not yet for all the jag products though. By the end of May, (April if we are lucky) we should be able to accommodate a move to a UK server.

    Thanks for the answers!

I'll wait then, I assume there will be some sort of announcement when a move is possible.

Just one more question: Will you offer the same features (and price) as the current U.S. based hosting?

Ooh! I would be totally up for that move, as long as the service remains as awesome as how it is now!

A LOT of English server companies are TOTALLY overpriced and the service is often very bad as well.

This still hasn't happened yet for jag. Another of the Landis Holdings brands rolled out UK VPS, reseller, failover-reseller, and a UK hybrid server which we can certainly get you setup with if interested. Just let me know. A normal shared server however is still cooking.

I would also opt for a transfer of our sites to the UK.

I'm perfectly happy with the shared services right now, so I'll wait until there's shared hosting in UK.

Yeah, I'm curious as well. It's been a while now since may, will you offer shared hosting in the UK this year, next year or not at all?
