    is shared hosting getting worse?

I've been with JPC for quite some time and i used to never have problems. I have a simple vanilla OS commerce site with i'm sure never more than 1 visitor at a time. it used to always be fast and avail. Lately the performance is OK but not great. it can take a couple seconds to generate a page. worst of all is random times throughout the day it will go offline for 5 or 10 minutes, then it will be back up.

has anyone else seen the quality degrade over time?

I have opened a ticket. My point for starting this thread was to see what other customers have noticed as time has gone by.

I don't think you'll get too many replies as that's not really the norm. There are a number of things that can cause degraded performance on any given server/hosting account. The server could be experiencing a high load, or an application running from the account may not be performing properly, etc. If it is the server or something on our end, we certainly will do what it takes to bring it back to performing as it should.

It's quite possible that all the problems are at your end, with your own ISP or associated network.

Are you using a tracking service such as http://host-tracker.com/ to keep an eye on your site?

At times that your site is unavailable or slow, have you made a comparative study of other site, including those hosted by JaguarPC?

There are a lot of reasons you could be seeing what you are seeing. Without knowing a lot of details all anyone can do is guess.

You need to open a ticket with support so they can look at your issue more closely.

Same here with the quality degrade. JaguarPC used to be awesome when I sign up, but nowdays, not anymore as almost everyday the site is down for some minutes (well, today the site was already down for an hour), which is a shame, as I used to recommend this host to my friends.

By the way, I've already opened many tickets before, but after they said that my site was the one overloading the server (although I disagree with this, as all the down times that I've faced on the server, aren't on peak hours in Brazil) and had my site temporarily but completly shut down for visitors after that, I kind of gave up trying.

Still, after they said that, I added a MySQL cache system on my forum (which already used a cache system for templates) and a cache for my news script, but it had no effect at all on the down times.

I've had a small personal site on a shared account since the Aletia days (right before JaguarPC bought out Aletia). I've had consistently good service since Jaguar took over. Sure the was the occasional server failure a few times over the years (that kind of thing is going to happen wherever you go), but I can't say I've noticed the shared hosting getting bad lately.

    Truthfully...

In my experience, here and elsewhere, "the quality" usually gets better over time!

Sounds like you might have a problematic neighbor on your hands...

Nope. My experience here is the same as Vinny's.

My sites use a ton of features and abilities that many hosts don't even allow (or didn't -- I haven't looked at other hosts in a long, long time), and my sites are therefore affected when almost anything goes wrong. Since I'm sitting on my sites all day long I tend to notice issues right away and I used to have to open tickets all the time. Now fewer than 1 per month, and they are promising to fix the issue that causes most of my tickets.

Jaguar has made consistent improvement in quality of service year after year after year.
    Good luck

    same here

Having exactly same issue on a shared + one VPS - server slow and then takes a deep dive everyday at 17.30 (GMT+7) and from thereon every 10-15 minute.

Tech only answered we needed to update to a Hybrid.
We had only 12 users online on our VPS when it dies.

Checked all code, DB and optimized ALL with high grades on YSlow without using Gzip or other CPU dependant tricks.

If the tech answered that you need to upgrade, it's possible your site is causing the load issues on the server? Otherwise they wouldn't suggest for you to upgrade. What's the support ticket? I can have our support manager take a peek if you'd like?

And as usual, the server is down again. Almost everyday, around this hour, metis goes down.

And it was already down for more than an hour earlier today.

Metalremains, we did get an alert and our techs have currently restored services. Regarding the earlier downtime, did you open a ticket with support.

No, I didn't as it was 3am here in Brazil and I was sleeping.
