Winman1, we apologize for the inconvenience. We are aware of the server going down and our data center techs are already working on this. If you have any ticket opened regarding this, please provide us the ticket number so that we can update it with details.

We really appologize for this downtime. We are working on it to get it up as soon as possible and identify the root cause.

I am NOT being a wise guy, or pointing fingers, but... this situation seems rather suspect to me!

4th server going down in a month?!?!?

@ winman1 : Is it possible that your web site(s) are bringing down these servers?

It has happened to me before...

Sorry this has occurred for you but maybe try VPS hosting which can be more reliable.

Also remember that hardware failure is inevitable with any company. In my experience JPC is usually on top of things on issues such as updating customers on what is going on.

Hmm.. I would not recommend that. On VPS you are more isolated from other users, so theoretically it is indeed more stable. However, you also pay more money for the same effective power and become your own server administrator. VPS, in particular low end VPS, is for those who need the freedom, not a way to find much more stability.

I am in a similar boat. I have been with JPC for a little over a year and been moved 3 times, most recently being to Nero in September.

We have gone down every day this week and it's definitely not my sites... they are puny!!

I need stability and a fully managed server. I can't afford or justify hundreds of dollars a month. I am paying $30/month for SDX and that's a lot. I used to be with Website Source cheap shared hosting ($5/mo) for years and years and while we never went down, I was always having to deal with internal hacks, so that's why I moved.

I'm about ready to go back to them because every time the servers go down here I am losing untold amounts in lost revenues, not to mention wasting AdWords dollars for people clicking on my ads and then getting to my site to find no site at all.

I really want a solution, not to leave. It's worth a lot to me. I have offered JPC to pay $50/month for any type of hosting that will just be stable but they only offered me something that costs $100/month adn I am not a reseller or making money off hosting and I just can't spend that kind of money. $360/year is enough! $1200? No way!!

Why is this such a mystery? Can anyone suggest a solution to me, either with or without JPC?

My other dilemma with JPC is that every time they move me, they always miss something big that affects something big and I go days, sometimes weeks, until the problem reveals itself. It ends up being a big frustration.

Bularae, we regret that you are facing this problem. Please open a support ticket so that we can check this in detail. If you already have a ticket open, please provide the ticket ID here so that techs can check this for you.
We have a fail-over addon on our SDX package which is meant for clients who require higher uptime reliability. Nevertheless, we definitely would like to resolve the current stability issue with your site uptime before suggesting any kind of upgrade. We will be checking Nero for stability issues in the meanwhile as it is not normal for a server to go down this often as you have stated in your post.

The server rori is not going down everyday, though yes there have been some apache service outages recently and we have blocked one problem user already in last few days. Currently the server is back online after the reboot and all the services are running normal. We are monitoring and checking the server further to check why it went down today and to find any abusive scripts/accounts causing issues.

No such thing as "no downtime". That's blue-sky thinking!

    I think it's Luck O' The Irish...

The uptime graphic in my sig is dynamically generated. My (JagPC) site has been monitored since 16-Nov-2005 / 1540 day(s).

I don't know about you, but I'm seeing 99.66% uptime. Personally, I think that's pretty damn good!

I've (probably) been on 3-4 different servers here, since 2005, and that uptime includes a few days of downtime, due to getting kicked off of various machines from time-to-time (as my needs outgrew the plan I was on).

Really, Dude, I don't think you're going to find a place with better uptime than JagPC. Sh!t happens, here and elsewhere. There's always going to be some jackass neighbor ruining your day, no matter where you go.

That's the nature of shared hosting! When your neighbor sneezes, you catch a cold. The only alternative(s) I know of is going colo or dedicated... and you can do that here.

I cannot agree with your assessment, Wim...

I've been on a Hybrid 100 (VPS) server for about 6 weeks. The difference in power and stability has been startling, to say the least!
