    Download and Upload speeds

I recently changed to Verizon FIOS to take advantage of the faster speeds available, 25/5, and have been very dismayed that I have been only able to achieve about little more than half of these speeds.

I am getting my rated speed whenever I do any internet speed tests

Does Jaguar have speed caps in place? If so what are they, and I would request that you up them or remove them

    Thanks

AFAIK, JagPC has never had any "speed caps" in place.

    Let's test the theory...

These are the results of the Speed Test on my JagPC-Powered web site.

I'm on a 7MB DSL2 connection. 700KB-ish is as fast as this thing goes, so they are obviously NOT capping the speeds on my web site.

Ron is on Verizon FIOS (the last I knew) and he makes my connection look sick...

I get about 16mbps throughput using WinSCP in SCP mode. That is encrypted and it got higher from about 8 when I upgraded my home CPU. There are latency issues to Boston from Atlanta , so try doing simultaneous downloads. I can max out my FiOS connection of 25mbps with two simultaneous downloads from my server.

Try to run such a test off hours! :-) 3AM Sunday Morning EST is in the "international tech window".
    Good luck

Tests truly out on the net, I hope? I.e. not a test from your own provider (Verizon) that merely shows off that the line between them and you is indeed that fast, but doesn't give any impression about their pipes towards the rest of the world.

IMHO internet providers are still being too unclear about what they sell: they advertise and sell you a really wide driveway onto their network (let's call that "the city streets"), but provide little or no information about how congested their city streets are or how well connected they are (or aren't) to major highways.

Actually, I made a mistake in my ooriginal post - it should have read 25/25. And yes, I have verified this using a number of different sites and server locations. I am lucky to get a small fraction of the upload speed to my jag site, and a little better than half on download. The upload speeds are truly appalling even though I am clearly getting the bandwidth promised from Verizon. (imagine that!!)

    Thanks

So why won't Jaguar answer this question? My current download at the moment is under 10 Mbps. My last upload was just over 3 Mbps. This is pathetic with a 25/25 connection. I expected much better from Jaguar when I upgraded my internet connection. That they won't even answer this tells you something...

If you have an unanswered ticket then please let us know and we will check and update that. If you do not have any open ticket for this issue then open a support ticket providing all details and we can check into that .

OK, I'll open up a support ticket, but I would appreciate a public acknowledgement of your speed caps if you have any.

Your post implies that there are no speed limits on uploads/downloads, but doesn't directly answer the question.

BTW, after doing the actual calculations, it turns out my download maxes out at about 7-8 mbps (about 1/3 of rated speeds), and uploads max out at about 2.66 mbps (about 10% of the rated speeds). The download speeds are bad enough, but the upload speeds are pathetic...

There are no caps. The only case there may be a cap would be related to some server/service abuse scenario. Also speeds can vary to some extent depending on if you are on a virtual or physical environment . As I said earlier you can always open a support ticket providing the details and techs can check into that and update you accordingly.
