    Intrepid Down for Hours

Any news about when Intrepid will be back up? I have a couple of clients who are getting antsy. The last update was about four hours ago about the motherboard being replaced.

I'm also pretty pissed. I cannot access anything since hours. Second downtime this month, the server is not even close to a 100% uptime.

Freaking rediculous, still no status update. Should I fly into to Texas and fix it myself?

Still nothing, what will you folks do in case of a real emergency when you are incapable to fix a server issue within 10+ counting hours?

Sorry to say but you act like a amateurs, that downtime is absolutely rediculous and not acceptable. If you would host a fortune 500 company you would out of business tomorrow!

    Angry Over 24 hours???

JaguarPC claims to have 100% uptime... unless you read the fine print. A site down for over 24 hours is just unheard of. Even the server exploded, you should have a backup machine ready to turn on with the flip of a switch. This outage has shown that JaguarPC is not the reliable host I thought it was.

This is beyond unacceptable. A backup server should have be implemented within hours of this outage, yet it's down for over a day now. And it was just down a few weeks ago as well. I have run out of excuses for my client.

Do you have any idea at all when the server will be back up?

The last update was over 4 hours ago. My patience ran out about 10 hours ago.

I'm so sorry you're going through this and I know from first hand experience that it's really hard and frustrating when your server is down.

It can be really hard to determine when to give up on the quick fixes and go to the bare metal restore of a new server. That approach has it's own set of issues that will need to be worked through which will become clear over the next couple of days.

JAG is a discount host and the hardware that you're on is not 100% uptime enterprise mission-critical hardware. I expect 99% uptime is a very reasonable place to be. So that means I expect that my server will be down about 3 days every year. If it's less than that I figure I'm ahead of the game. If those 3 days will cost me more than implementing a more highly available solution, I'll implement it. It's a business decision.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be banging my head against the wall the whole time, just like you are now.

If your business depends upon a higher level of availability, JAG has solutions for that now and more coming in the future.

In the meantime, I hope that this goes as smoothly as possible from here on in, and everything gets straightened out for you quickly.

    Good luck.
    Good luck

The hardware is irrelevant to the point.

Jaguar claims "Our powerful backup systems combined with enterprise software by R1Soft and top quality personnel make our backups unbeatable, not to mention free for virtual hosting clients."

Sorry, if they are advertising "enterprise" backup software and "unbeatable" backups, it can be expected that they'd simply migrate users to another server from backups while they sort out the hardware mess.

It's been over 24 hours. I've been with plenty of "budget" hosts and in the year 2011 you do not go down for 24 hours. Jaguar got greedy, overloaded a server (hence the the extremely long /home rebuild), and now their customers are paying the price. This is shameful.

Hey, I completely agree with you about the timeframes, but I don't agree that having great backups means you start restoring from them every time a server goes down. You try to fix the issue.

...and a BMR from R1 will take a while.
    Good luck
