How long is this going to take?!

When I got the email about "ip migration completed, old ip's removed" this morning, I checked my site and couldn't reach it (connection timeout in Firefox). A few minutes later I checked again, it was ok. Back and forth all day, between sometimes okay, too often not available. Internet Explorer 9 seems to never be able to reach my site, unless I enter the new ip number, that is.

I opened a ticket this morning, which was responded to and escalated to level 3, but no response since.

I think this is the worst day I've had as a JPC customer. Time to remove that ad about "reliably hosted by Jaguar PC since 2002," assuming I can log on to do so, that is

I'm still having intermittent problems connecting to my site.

...issue with the nameservers listed in zone file...
Seems odd that the result is intermittent problems, but I have no clue.

    Still waiting and wondering...

I did get a response last night (about the issue in the zone file). So I guess I just wait, maybe a couple of days, for DNS propagation, to see if it is in fact resolved?

You don't need to wait for propagation to test your public DNS.

You can use the system at Squishywishywoo: complete dns traversal checking
    Good luck

Thanks Ron, looks like the ip issue is probably resolved.

Looks like the intermittent part of the problem is likely due to something else:
too much traffic, using too many resources, running out of memory.

I had seen just a few of these errors lately, but quite a few more from yesterday:
"Cannot allocate memory: couldn't create child process: /opt/suphp/sbin/suphp ..."

This surprises me though... How much traffic is a lot on a shared server? I'm not using resource-hungry third-party app's.

Hmmm.... I dread having to upgrade. I don't know enough...

If you are on a server where cloudlinux is installed and you aren't a particularly resource intensive site, perhaps you could talk to support about increasing the hard resource limits being applied to your account.

For example, if you are just getting lots of php page hits, but don't pound on the database... Or situations like this.
    Good luck

Ron is right Shwn. Our technical support team is here to help you. They can help you decide if it is time for you to upgrade your account. Technical support is also available on Live Chat if you feel the ticket system takes too long for you. If you feel like you want to gain some more knowledge then please visit our support area. The support and knowledge base area of our website has just been upgraded and there are flash videos, audio support and quick start guides as well. I'm sure you can beef up your knowledge if you spend some time in that area.

I'm assuming my server does have CloudLinux since I see the Resource Usage panel in place. (Been reading some of the related forum posts, Semi-dedicated Isn't What It Used To Be, and Resource Usage In Cpanel (SDX) Details?)

So far, following up on the same ticket to see what they say on how resource intensive my site is, if some particular script(s) causing problem, ...

Is 2500-3000 visits per day a lot for someone on a shared server?

I assume if the issue is need for more resources, sdx would be the next step, which doesn't sound like such a big deal, except for the big price jump.

That is decent size but it all depends on what they do when they visit and what kind of site you run - static pages vs a CMS.

Somewhere, in between, not static, but no big third party app's.

Still groping in the dark a bit here. Now support says average memory use looks normal, hitting the limit every now and then. What I see in the Resource Usage Details for the past week and month is that mem faults are usually 0 or just a few here and there, but that there was a huge increase on the 13th (day I opened the ticket and this thread), during one hour 56 MEMF. But I don't know what I can do to find out why or what was going on. (Eyes glazing over trying to go through the raw access log for that time frame. )

I have one script in mind that I can clean up that I know can be less than efficient, for example, if someone is trying to hack my site with stuff in the query string, but other than that I guess it's still watch and wait. Support did say they could increase my limit if necessary.

Well, go ahead, take them up on their offer and ask them to increase the limit!

You can look at your apache logs for that exact time frame (assuming you have them on/archived). Errors should show up in there as well.... I think. Maybe.
    Good luck

    Yes, I believe I will.

Where do I turn on archiving, or find them, if they are already?
