Question Please check this error msg and suggest a solution.

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem without opening a trouble ticket?

I checked this thread but it's not the same problem. I tried doing some of the suggestions but it didn't help.

Check that the mentioned files are on the server and their respective permissions are set to 644....

Another user had a similar problem but I don't know if there's some tyepe of relation between him and you.

    Thanks Julian,
I think you are referring to the link I included on my message. I tried what they suggested and it failed.

Anyway, I solved the problem already.
You see the release I have was 714 unfortunately I couldn't find my tar file of it. So out of desperation I untar rel 723 and copied the missing files to the old dir. (I have a reason for not upgrading to 723 yet). That seem to have solved my problem.

Thanks for replying. Sometimes I just need a sounding board.

    ^^^ What he said ^^^

I know you have already solved your problem, but I'll throw this out for future reference --- in case someone grabs this thread on a search.

Generally, whenever I get those kinds of error messages, it's because the permission[s] on this-or-that file aren't set correctly. I had this problem, last night, with a 'Nuke' block that I installed. An offending file unzipped to 644. I changed it to 777, but the proggie didn't like that either. When I CHMOD'ed it to 666, the error messages went away. Go figure...

I don't know if you were one of the ppl affected by the recent mass defacements by anti-American hacks on JagPC servers, but I suspect the mode has changed on a lot of files that were restored from backups, et cetera. There seems to be a rash of these sort of problems right now.

Anyway, good job on sorting out your 'conflicting version' problem and fixing it!

In my case it wasn't a permision prob rather it was a missing file. Yeah I'm on Merc. I guess in their haste to quickly restore Merc. Some of the files did not restore properly.

BTW, Merc's HTTP is going up & down I wonder if they are doing maintenance/upgrades to CPanel. I saw some global message that said something regarding cpanel layer 2. But I don't know what that means.

Yeah, terms like that are confusing. To my way of understanding, Layer 1 in Cpanel is a link layer between Cpanel and say Apache, Perl, Tomcat, yada, yada, yada. Layer 2 is the network layer for Linux, FreeBSD or whatever.

Someone, correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know what they mean by that for sure either, or if they even said it in the first place...
