    Main account

How can I get mail to go into my main mailbox of my account? The one with the same username and password as control panel. I know this can be used as a catch-all box but if I try to use forwarders to send mail to it i get a delivery error message. Just wondering, that mailbox is just sitting there doing nothing.

I think for forwarders on that one you should just use the username portion of the address and not the @domain.com part. That one works a little different from the addresses you create. Also, when you go to set up a POP client to check it, just use the username portion for the username in the client.

I tried that without the @domain.com. If I just put the username it will add the @domain.com onto it causing it to try to send it to an address that doesn't exist. Some things such as "Default Address" and stuff in control panel will not add the @domain.com if you don't put it, but forwarders do.

I don't believe now with the jailshell i have access to the file that holds forwards to manually change it do I?

    Nope, just tried...

If you're creative, you could maybe write a cgi script to do it. I haven't tried that yet, but it is probably just as easy to ask support to set it up for you.

Hmmm. I've used forwarders successfully from that account. Haven't tried ones to it though. It should recognize your_default_cpanel_login_name@yourdomai n.com as the default catchall, unless you've altered the default address via cpanel. You might try re-entering it using the cpanel "default address" tool to see if that reinitializes things for you. I have seen cases after server moves where that would need doing to get the catchall address working properly again.

One other thought. Are you using one of the email bouncing techniques for invalid addresses that others have described in this section? The behavior you describe may be a side-effect to one of those.

Yes, I am using the :fail: command in the default email address section because I don't want a catch all mailbox.

IS there a reason why you want to use the default email address? I pretty much just ignore mine. Every week or so I check it, but for the most part, all I get there is spam.

No there's not really a reason. I think I'm just going to ignore mine also and just set up another pop account. No big deal I just wondered why it didn't work.
