"custom" shopping cart

I have a prospect that would like to use a custom shopping cart they have developed. It's a CGI/Perl cart as far as I can determine.

Is this supported? What are the basic steps to get it to work? Are there any extra costs associated with it? What else do I need to know?

You can ask to the developer what modules or special requirements the software requires, apart perl. Most of the developers offers a script that checks for all required modules on the server... If there's a module that isn't installed on your server, you can open a support ticket and ask them to install it for you.
