    Question Autoresponder

A client of mine wants to turn off the catch-all feature of his account. Does anyone know if that is possible?

If not, he wants to use an autoresponder replying that there is no recipient to the address that was sent to. Does anyone know if you can specify parameters in the body of the returning mail? Such as "Your message to %SENT_TO% could not be delivered."

    All help is appreciated.

type ":fail:" without the quotes in the default address and that should take care of it.

I'm also interested in disabling my catchall address. So after reading this I tried it. The problem is only the mail addressed to the catchall address will bounce. For example:

If I send mail to catchall@mydomain.com it bounces, but if mail is sent to an invalid address like xyz@mydomain.com it does not bounce. Then when you check mail for the catchall address you still get the message sent to xyz@mudomain.com.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I suppose one could request the catchall feature be removed through a support ticket...

By using :fail: you are disabling the catchall feature, but, if mail sent to any valid address should still be delivered. What do you mean by the "catchall" address? Do you mean your default address (the one that is your cpanel username)? If you use :fail: for your catch all account, you should no longer have a catchall account, so any mail sent to an invalid address should bounce. If this isn't happening, check that CPanel actually updated the catchall. If you are still having trouble, open a support ticket.

Oh, I was definately confused. I understand now.

Instead of changing the default address to ":fail:" I was entering ":fail:" in a forward for the default address. [Doh!]

Now I see where you can set the default address and that works like a charm for me.

Thanks for straightening me out Jason.
