    Question about domain name

    I have registered a domain in aletianic.com.
There is two ways that I setup my website online. One is using their name server, other is pointing the name server of JaguarPC. What is the different? What is the best way to do?

For the future, if I want to move to the other machine or IP, what is the best way?

    Thanks for any help!

Are you talking about a redirect vs. NS, or JagPC NS vs. Aletia NS?

Doesn't make any difference, bro, if you're talking about NS. I use JagPC name servers --- like 6 of them. When one goes down, they all go down.

Also, any time you want to change it/them --- no problem. Just do it. It just takes 2-4 days for it to propagate, like everything else.

Anyway, choose your poison. One way is the same as the other IMHO...

I think he's refering to using the Enom's servers vs. JPC's. Enom (the registrar of which AletiaNic/JPC is a reseller) gives you the option of setting up your own DNS records on their servers or specifying different servers.

If you don't know anything about setting up your own DNS, you should use the ones that JPC provides (ns.jaguarpc.net and ns2.jaguarpc.net for starters). That way you can be sure that everything is set up correctly, and that, if anything should ever change, the change will be made properly without your intervention. I'm a trained system admin myself and I've set up several DNS server configs, and even I use the JPC servers. I have enough to worry about without having to worry about managing my DNS, too.

    Thanks! Vin DSL and Jason!

    Thanks for your information.

In my resold accs, I found that it will redirect to the IP rather than the domain name. I put the name servers of JPC into my Aletianic.com acc.
When I type the myresolddomainname.com in a browser, it will redirect to the IP. It means that the browser displays the IP rather domain on the URL field.
My own reseller site don't have the problem. Because JPC help me set up everything. I don't need to registra by my self.

My question is how to make the URL display the domainname.com, not the IP address.

    Thanks for any input.

It sounds like you have redirection set up in there somewhere. It may just be a propagation issue, though. Give it a couple days and see if it stops. It may just be that your ISP doesn't know to look at the JPC servers yet and its still using the old ones. It usually takes 2 or 3 days for changes to DNS to become effective.
