    Log analysis for errors

Hi Everyone. I was pleasantly surprised to see (in CPanel), a choice of 3 different server-based Access_Log analysis "web stats" choices. I have a couple of questions.

My old host had a separate downloadable file called "Error_Log", that showed only errors. That was very handy for spotting problems. I've noticed that "Awstats" in CPanel has a feature to show errors too, but it doesn't show the date or time for individual entries. Instead, Awstats is counting and ranking the different types of errors. Although this is handy, it makes it hard for me to check if I've successfully managed to fix the errors, ( by checking if they're continuing to happen after a certain date/time).

Apart from brute force.. downloading the whole Access_Log, uncompressing and grepping the errors, are there some other options available that I haven't discovered yet?

My other question, ahh.. I forgot my other question... But if you want to talk about whatever clever stats analysis things you do, go ahead.

CPanel also includes an error log option. You can find it under Statistics section, the second link from the bottom. If you want to down load the actual raw logs, its a bit more difficult these days with JailShell. I'll have to investigate ways to do that...
