Just an educated guess...
We're both running Nuke sites. I'm using PHP-Nuke. Looks like you're running PostNuke. Whenever I have the problem[s] you described, it's usually MySQL related. I'm dead in the water if the sym-link pukes, there are too many MySQL connections open or whatever. The Network Status page is almost always 'green' when this happens, which means YOU will have to contact support to get things corrected. The 'system' doesn't catch it automatically and inform 'them' that there is a problem unless the MySQL server goes down, which is unlikely.
LoL! If you plan on running a Nuke site here, support WILL be your best friend. Get used to it..![]()

Oh, BTW, nice looking site! You might want to stick the URL in your profile so ppl can click on it...

Heh... I don't mean to keep bugging you, but I see you're running Gallery. Have you tried Coppermine? That's what I'm using on my site. I almost went with Gallery, but I like the Coppermine theme arrangement better...

bug me all you like.
My site just puked again, but at least I'm getting an error now:
apparently another mysql issue. If you and I and so many others are having the same problems, can't they track it down? Seem like they could.Code:Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/westernb/public_html/pnadodb/drivers/adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 170 mysql://westernb_pnuke:@localhost/westernb_pnuke failed to connectCan't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)
Thanks for the nice comments on the site. I just redid it in the last month or so to include postnuke. I was using a homebrew CMS before that.
I like gallery... but I haven't heard of coppermine. how about a URL?
Yeah, that's a socket error, usually caused by a symbolic link being bad. Contact support and they can fix it.
To see Coppermine on my site, just click the WWW button below this message. Once you're on my main page, look on the left side, in the main menu and click on Coppermine...

Well, it looks like coppermine hasn't been ported to postnuke yet, so apparently it isn't an option for me. Thanks anyway.
LoL! Coppermine wasn't ported to PHP-Nuke correctly. It took me about 5 days to get it working right. That's probably why you've never heard of it. I can't imagine a lot of ppl going through what I did.Originally posted by craig1

Can you guys use NukeWrap? That would be a way around all the non-sense. Interesting proggie! As an example, I could put the JagPC bulletin board on my website using NukeWrap, but I don't think 'they' would appreciate it.
Check it out:

Heh! The Nuke hold-outs don't know what they're missing, do they???![]()

there is a module called post-wrap for postnuke that I have tried. It runs things in iFrames so its a little weird. I didn't like it much.
As for the hold outs - I think you're right.
NukeWrap is a handy thing. I ran a Yahoo-style search engine on my site, using Perl/CGI, for a few years --- you know, one of those places where 'they' "submit your site to 20,000 search engines for $49.95"... LOL! I am still getting 100's of submissions/404's every day because 'they' are still trying to send content to my site.
Anyway, I couldn't think of any way to include the search engine in my Nuke site, since mixing Perl/CGI with PHP and MySQL is rather tricky. With NukeWrap, I could let my search engine run as a stand-alone, yet still have it run seamlessly inside PHP-Nuke.
The bad part of NukeWrap is, if you are of the mind, you can simply, and easily, steal everyone else's content and bandwidth and include it on your site. I haven't read about any ppl bitching about this, so I guess it doesn't happen all that much. Crooks are kinda dumb and, most likely, don't even know about NukeWrap/Post-Wrap...

Well, it seems to be down now (2 days later). I'm totally new here, and this is a little discouraging. Is there anything that can be done when the server goes down? Does this happen often?
