    Server down?

    All,

I cannot connect to fair-ware.com or lovingtouchstudio.com in any way. SSH, POP3, SMTP, and HTTP all fail. I tried to get into the ticket system, but it won't accept my username/password.

When I try to access the Web site through HTTP, the DNS isn't resolving for either account. However, it works fine for a third domain that I have, also hosted through JaguarPC.

    HELP!

    resolved?

The problem seems to have reversed itself. I find it very disturbing that the SSH host key of the server changed twice in the past five minutes. That should NEVER change.

    What the heck happened?

We had a few IPs bound to multiple machines and if you tried to connect during that time, your SSH keys would have been incorrect. The problem was resolved. If you notice further problems, please open a ticket.

My understanding is there was a power problem at the data center, which caused the router ports to 'motorboat', which caused Jag's provider to (automatically) disconnect them from the backbone, blah, blah, blah. Cascade effect or cluster f***, take your pick.

Or, was that a seperate issue?

    DOWN AGAIN?!

Krypton server for my domain, illinoise.us, has been down for the past half hour between 3:15 and 3:45 -- dns won't resolve, can't check mail, etc. etc...

Is this a chronic problem? I purchased a hosting plan two days ago and am worried that this could be a persistent problem. What's the word from Jag?

Sorry -- just read the admin announcement for today ... I suppose these power problems happen. Just hope it doesn't happen often!

Screw-ups on 'their' end are very rare. Screw-ups on the clients' part are continuous. The nice thing about this place is, when your 'neighbor' brings 'your' server down, support is very fast to act on it.

The thing is, posting here won't get 'the job' done. This is a good place to vent, and compare notes with other ppl, but tech support doesn't hover over these threads. They hover over the messages in the ticket system.

So, I would suggest you get comfortable with using the ticket system here, before the next problem crops up. It's the '911' thing. When someone is running after you with a knife in their hand, it's hard to remember the phone number for the local police sub-station.

Support will become your best friend here at JagPC. They'll be your personal bodyguard, protecting you from the other webMASTERS...

As an example, without mentioning names, there a webMASTER in another thread, right now, trying to figure out how to open 100 fsock connections at the same time using PHP. As soon as he figures out he can do it by tunneling with Java or Python, there goes the neighborhood, you know?

Hahahahaha! See what you're in for?!?!?!?!

I have had sites at Jag for over 2 years. The service is reliable.
I have an e-commerce site that has to be on-line. If Jags service
was unreliable, I would have started looking for another host a long
    time ago.

However, Vin brings up some valid points. Fortunately we do not have
a lot of those problems on the servers my sites are on.

Krypton has had a rough fortnight. And I have been diligently keeping tabs on Support regarding its uptime. To be fair, I hadn't had any (significant) problems the previous two years, but in the last 11 days, the server (Krypton) has gone down no less than 8 times (including the power issues today).

It is also interesting to note that following the power issues today, Kryton was the LAST server to return to full service. I was watching the 'lightboard' the whole time (when I could connect at least).
