    Unhappy Database failure...

Half an hour ago, one of my sites failed due to database connection problems. I've already created a ticket, but I was wondering if I could do anything about it myself.
The error returned is "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/tmp/mysql.sock'".

Also, in the control panel all MySQL databases are missing, but I can see them in phpMyAdmin.

Is anyone else having database problems?

Yup, it looks as if the mysql servers have gone down. What server are you on?
    I know that Carbons affected.

Im not sure if there are any tech people on duty, but all my sites have been crippled.

I'm on Xenon. It's working again for me now, but I still don't see the databases in the control panel.

Are you by any chance using a new account that you signed up with recently? That may be the problem. I have several accounts, but I recently signed up for a new account with their new automated signup (the one that installs the account immediately instead of waiting several days). You can tell if your domain is something like abcd.com and they assigned you a userid like "jabcd.co".

If this is the case, you will have trouble with MySQL in the control panel. You may not be able to create a database, and/or see it in the cpanel. You also won't see the databases in the backup link. There is some kind of glitch with the "." in the userid. This was already acknowledged to me in a ticket response. It didn't sound like it was a top priority (or any priority) to be fixed. I think the only recourse is to do your MySQL business in SSH directly.
