web fetching not working anymore!

I had a hosting account with jpc in which i used sockets in php on my website to grab data from other sites. I have a new account and i am using exactly the same scripts on my new site - but sockets used to perform remote grabs don't seem to work - why is this?

i am now on neo, whereas before i was on carbon

i thought it could be a firewall, but if this were the case then i should have error messages on my page saying the socket connection isn't working.

Is it because my domain has not been resolved yet?

no - -no errors show on the page - this is a weird one

Does anyone else use sockets to connect to remote sites that actually work with jpc? if so i would love to know!

I use sockets via PHP fsock successfully here when probing remote systems all the time:
