    Exclamation Download Backup

We am having a bit of a problem downloading a backup of our site. We recently canceled our service with JaguarPC, but I didn't get a change to download a backup before the cancelation occoured. Is there anyway I can download a backup of the files and sql database? Hopefully it hasn't been deleted.

Ooooh, tough situation. Did you also forget to fillup your request with lots of flattering statements, and promise to resubscribe with JaguarPC again too? (not a bad idea/strategy, eh?). But if that all fails, try places like the google cache and the wayback machine, which might get you back a little portion of your content.

once your account is cancelled most hosts delete it at the same time as they process the cancellation

this makes sure all non-need files are deleted, and the servers stay clean, and open for the MAX number of cleints

So more than likly it is all gone, I would never submit any cancellation request before doing a backup, but then again, i do backups everyday so....

I remember this coming up a while ago, and Jag's statement was basically that sites are deleted immeadiately after the cancellation is processed. It might be able to pull your site off a backup somewhere, but I'd ask quick before that is gone, too. Also, I know that JPC (or any company for that matter) charges a pretty heafty backup recovery fee, so asking for this now, especially since you have already cancelled your service, could cost you.

I always recommend to people moving sites to a new host to keep their current host for about two weeks to a month after the move occurs. That way you don't lose visitors during the domain prpagation period (which, even in the most extreme circumstances, will never last more than a few days) and you have the old (presumably working) site to go back to for files and whatnot if anything weird happens during the move.

Good luck getting your files back...

Thanks for all the replies. I actually do have a backup of the site, but its about a week old. So I'll just use that and see how things go.

LoL! You're lucky, Dude. Daily backups are usually free, but I've never seen anyone do a restore for free. My last webhoster charged $200/hr for restoring files. What does JagPC charge?
