    Re: Zip

    At a previous host of mine, you could use Telnet and use gzip and tar of course, but you could also use just Zip.

    Zip was much easier as it defaulted to including permissions, all subfolders, etc. It worked very similar to the windows pkzip.

    Using WHM, do I install the "zip" software by installing one of the following modules?

    Archive::Any::Zip
    Archive::Zip

    That doesn't seem to make since since those are perl modules, but I thought I would ask.

    Thanks in advance,
    Roger

    Zip should be available on your server. A while back (after the server moves), though, I remember a few servers didn't have it, but supported installed it when it was requested.

    The JPC servers don't support telnet, but they do have SSH, which allows you to do the same thing, just more securely. If you aren't familiar with SSH, you'll need to ask support (open a ticket) for SSH access to your site and then download an SSH client for your computer. Let me know if you need help finding a client and I'll point you in the right direction for your platform.

    Thank you Jason for your help.

    I am now renting my own server from Jag and it doesn't have zip installed and I was wondering how to go about it.

    That's why I was asking about WHM installation of zip.

    Sorry about the confusion!

    I'm sure the same would hold for a ded server, just open a support ticket and ask to have zip installed. I doubt it'd be a problem.
