Am I the first this year? PHP 5.3 on reseller servers

Hey guys, I've just checked on my account on centaurus that we're still on PHP 5.2.9.
is there a plan for upgrading to PHP 5.3+?
I've checked in the cPanel forums and they're supporting 5.3 since 2009 (at least in EasyApache).
There are tons of "Rails-like" PHP frameworks that use 5.3+ features and my clients are asking for this.

    Best,
    Andres

    Hi jjaguara,

We are planning to upgrade PHP on our servers but at this time I do not have an ETA for you when will it be done. If you have more queries about this please feel free to submit a ticket. Thank you.

I'm on semi-dedicated but the request is the same.... cpanel already has some sort of support to it, it's almost 2 years old, it's more than required.

Right now I'm starting to build a new web app and I need to choose between an old lib version or the new lib because it requires PHP 5.3... It really annoys me that I'll have to buy a new hosting account elsewhere just to get PHP 5.3 and use the current generation technologies.

Why can't we get, at least, some "voluntary" upgrade, some test servers with it, something... I understand most client don't want to upgrade, but if they want to, why not satisfy them?

I'm agnostic about PHP version at the moment, but HOLY COW! You MUST hold the record for time between registration and first post!

    Welcome.

OK, back to the PHP issue.
    Good luck

LOL LOL LOL!!!! That was funny!

Actually, 5.3 breaks a lot of scripts and this is why many people do not want it as well.

And 5.3 Adds a huge amount of Advanced Features (enough that many felt it should be called 6 not 5.3 but I digress) and that is why ALOT of people want it

Hi Ancient, I agree with you that it should be an option. I just know from experience that I had clients want it and installed it, then were panicked when half their scripts stopped working. LOL.

I like the added features it has, but I too have scripts that will not work with it, so I wait. LOL.
