Have you checked lately if your site is up? scnr

... and yes, after a little bit more than 20 hrs, it was up again.
Hey, no fair! That's cheating... LoL!

Yeah, I've been suffering from domain lookup failures, off n' on, for a while now.

I can't figure out where the failure is taking place. It's weird! Some parts of the world are affected, but not others.

I usually get 50k-100k hits a day, on my main site, and the stats don't seem to reflect any downtime.

Last time I checked the JagPC server uptime, it was 400+ days, and the hourlies look fairly normal.

    I dunno. It's a mystery to me...

You can click the uptime button in my sig and check the log for events. Those are live buttons / live stats.

    Edit

Just checked, and there are 97 ppl online. Heh! Go figure...

This has nothing to do with the staff and everything to do with restores. The network overhaul which began this summer took a major leap forward last month and we hope to complete it fully in the next few months. Thats the problem, our client base outpaced the network design.

The new system can handle more than 10x the current levels , new improved backend private networks and lots more. Cloud, Sans, more 10gb type nas so we can get restore times from 20+ hours down to 2-3hrs. 4 yrs ago not every client had or could use 100, 500gb whatever amount of disk. While we have kept up on the disk space management very well, the network did not keep up. In short servers are just restoring some 100gb data anymore, its 4, 5, 6 TB's at a time.

We've heard the calls about this issue last year and began hiring consultants and personnel to plan and major 100% network overhaul. This year we began putting it in place. Sure hope we get it finished soon.

And on a venting forum, I won't ever add that, sorry. Vent away anywhere here you like, you picked the perfect area in feedback and suggestions.

Okay... the DNS lookup problem just cleared up.

    Here's how the stats look:

5k page views, the last couple of hours. Obviously, the DNS was working for some.

    Edit

BTW, I just checked the JagPC server uptime...

    Code:
Server uptime: 518 days 8 hours 3 minutes 43 seconds

Btw, latest beta for it is Dec 10th, but theres still work to be done so the live version is likely still 6-8 weeks away.
All Good stuff, cant wait to see it live
