Yeah, pretty neat. I didn't know it had been updated. Probably not many forum members would, as we don't go to the home page at all. My two bookmarks are "Client Login" (tickets, status, affiliate stats etc.) and "What's New?" on the forums. And if I want more information on a VPS, for example, I'll click there from a tab on the forum page.
People searching for webhosting on google, or being referred from one of the webhosting blogs or forums however, will see the home page. But as I say, It looks pretty neat.
DISCLAIMER Any resemblance between the views expressed above and those of the owners and operators of this system is purely coincidental. Any resemblance between these views and my own are non-deterministic. The existence of Vin DSL is questionable. The existence of views in the absence of anyone to hold them is problematic. The existence of the reader is left as an exercise in the second-order coefficient.
Yeah looks good except for that Live Chat icon moving like that; it is annoying and ridiculously CPU intensive too (it keeps fine tuning the position for a minute or so after the screen last scrolled). It's a nice place to put it, on an overlay in the corner, but it shouldn't move around like that.
There's also a scripting error still, in ready.js.
I like it. I don't know about CPU usage of the chat icon, seemed to be OK on my netbook, but I'll take Wim's word for it!
I like the auto-rotating banner. I think last version I discovered there was more than one category by accidentally rolling over. This time it was a little bit non-intuitive to find out how to get back to the banner that just scrolled by. Once I figured out I needed to click on the banner underneath, when I read it and started to go to click on the "get started" button the banner changed.
Perhaps there could be a combination of the two. Auto-rotating, stopping if the mouse is over the changing part, and changing to the relevant version on a rollover of the lower portion. Perhaps the banner underneath could also change color or be highlighted as if it were an underside tab as each of their banners was being displayed. Now the connection between the two is not very clear except for the very small triangle.
Other than that I really like it.
Heh! Good catch!
I tested the theory...
Sitting idle at the "New Homepage", this machine is using 20% CPU (give or take).
If I furiously scroll up n' down the page, using the scroll wheel on my mouse, CPU usage climbs to 60%.
When I quit scrolling, and the Live Chat icon simmers down, it returns to 20% again.
It's easily reproducible, on this machine...
Edit
But, wait!
I can reproduce the CPU increase, identically, by scrolling up n' down this post.
Hrm...
Now, I'm thinking it's unrelated to the Live Chat icon. Probably the video drivers I'm using, or the browser.
Anyway, if it was me, I'd pin down the Live Chat, to the upper right-hand corner, or something...

New Home page is very nice. I like it. Very nice improvement.
No, the one that made my IE show the (!) icon on the taskbar happens right on showing the homepage:
But indeed, there are more. Anyway, these are quite in your face for anyone testing with some browsers with some simple (FireBug like) tools handy. They shouldn't need our feedback for these, they just need to bother.Originally Posted by IE Error reporting window
I needed to check out some of the VPS offerings. I went to 2 or 3 other pages.
Having the live chat widget chase me around on all of them was rather disconcerting. Reminded me of Clippy.
