    Editing httpd.conf

These may be dumb questions, but that's never stopped me before.

I'd like to create an alias which will apply to all my sites. I've achieved this on my local server (Alias fakename realname) within httpd.conf. However, how do I do this on my VPS account? I can't find a httpd.conf. And would any change I made be overwritten by the operations of cpanel or WHM anyway?

I can't speak for whether or not WHM/CP will overwrite your changes. I haven't used it from an administrator's perspective.

I can say that the httpd.conf is quite often located in /etc/httpd/conf, so take a look there.

If you're running apache 2.x instead of 1.x, as I believe you can on a VPS, then look for a /etc/apache2 folder.
