    VPS Woes

Thursday Feb. 21: Asked about upgrading to VPS. Ticket opened.

Friday: Transfer of files from shared to VPS begins.

Saturday: Transfer incomplete. I contact support. Support tells me I'll have to wait until Monday because the dude handling my ticket won't be in on the weekend. Very bummed, but I understand.

Monday Night: VPS is finally running.

    Tuesday: VPS dead, insufficient resources.

I bought the Discovery plan with additional RAM and CPanl addons. Now support is telling me to upgrade again. I'm now going to upgrade to Freedom, I hope this is the last upgrade, I really can't afford anything higher.

Jag should ditch the Discovery plan.

The discovery plan works great when its not infected with cpanel, honestly. You just have to buy the right size to meet the demands of your site and wahtever software you throw at it. Whm/cpanel isnt very light on resources at all, which is why I constantly promote interworx or if you can live with, plesk shares a lot of resources when used with VZ so its rather light on demand too. My preference = interworx.

Shoot, I wished I would've known that. According to support, I would have to reinstall my VPS, data and everything, if I wanted to switch control panels. So I am now stuck.

    Support says otherwise.

Tuesday Night: VPS still dead. It's getting late. I lost a whole day's revenue today due to down sites. Hopefully this will be resolved tomorrow.

Sorry, piper! I'm don't mean to hijack your thread, or make light of your situation. I'm just NOT a big fan of WHM/cPanel...

Hope things work out for you!

This is interesting info, is the pros/cons of the different control panels mention on the site? I tried to find info about the control panels under "Software and Control Panels", but all I see there is info about the VZPP. Is there more info about the different control panels anywhere else on the site?

Please PM me your ticket number, Piper. I'll personally see if any optimizations can be done with your QoS settings or other configuration files on the VPS if you're still noticing problems.

A server restore would be required. Data can be transferred easily from Cpanel to Interworx, but the control panels themselves need to be installed on a fresh OS.

Found the resource hog. It was one of my Drupal powered sites. I made some optimizations to Drupal and got one of my sites back online. Now for the rest...

    Thanks foryour help Eric.
