Free Mail Service

Hi,
I read your name from webhostingtalk.com very attractive. Everybody is refering you. I am near to launch a free mail service like hotmail and wanna use your Discovery Plan. Can i use it for a free mail service? And if it is ok, can you install postfix as a smtp server for me? If you bothering about spam issues, i will configure SpamAssasin, Anomy Sanitizer and ClamAV and AmavisD. Because i need to prevent spam messages and viruses too. I am not gonna open POP3 service for retrieving message and mails will be send over web interface aswell. So there can be no spam messages. Also i can buy some licenced applications for security.

We have no problems with this if the Discovery package meets your needs. You already touched on an important issue regarding spam. Free email services can attract alot of spam so you'll want to be sure and have a wait to mitigate this to avoid disruption in your service or possible termination.

I recently got the Discovery Plan. You'll find that without spending more ($7.00 per month for cPanel and $10.00 per month for 128Mb memory upgrade to support cPanel) that you'll need to do everything yourself from the command line, or license your own control panel (Webmin is a free one). They will give you a vanilla install of your favorite OS, but they won't be anxious to install custom software, etc. That's the bad news. The good news is that you can install and configure whatever you want yourself.

Sales department are not open over the weekend, so there will be a delay for your account to be opened, when I ordered my account I was lucky because it was a weekday.

VPS cannot be set up automatically, unlike the shared server plans, so unfortunately there could be a substancial delay.

The one bit of REALLY good news is support is 24/7/365 and they are exceptional, but new vps over the weekend can be slow to get up and running.

I told you yesterday already they don't work on weekends, so i am afraid you need a bit longer, also seeing the time you post, you probably have to wait till Monday afternoon as they are in a different timezone. They start waking up around 16:00 GMT+1 (maybe i am off by a hour, but that's what i noticed).

Support is however 24x7, installing a VPS is not done by the Support department though.

A VPS is like an own machine for you to work on, this takes a lot more time as creating a shared-account on an existing server which can be done in minutes.

I am afraid you got to have a but more patience ...

My VPS account has been opened. Thank you JaguarPC. They give me a VPS with no mail services. So i can install my mail services for my own. Thanks for that because i need postfix and dovecot with mysql authentication.
