    IP questions

OK - I'm curious, cause I can't work it out and google has disowned me today:

Is there any way to set up IP addresses to have more than one nameserver resolve to it?
And if there is, is there a way to do it in C-panel/ the root account of my reseller?

I'm having one of my curious moments

Are you asking if you can host multiple nameservers with a single IP address or are you trying to get you site to resolve and want to add additional nameservers for redundancy?

If you are trying to set up your own nameservers then each one must have a unique IP address. You can't make a ns2.yourdomain.com use 123.45.67.89 if ns.yourdomain.com already uses taht IP.

If you are just trying to get your site running then you can list all the nameservers you want (up to your registrar's limit) on your domain. As long as each listed nameserver has a zone record for your domain it will work fine. Nameservers are simply databases that map names to IP's. They're like information booths--you ask them how to get somewhere and they tell you where to go.

Hosting multiple nameservers with one IP would work
What's really bothering me is that I moved my old accounts over, but we tried not to lose the hosting nameservers, but for some reason it didn't work.

I'm now working on sorting it out, but till I do - I was wondering if I needed to get more IPs to add the old nameserver to my new account (I've ordered some, but can't get into my support account cause my password isn't working ) so I'm trying to fix it at present....
