    install apps on VPS

Just got my welcome email for a VPS account. So, how do I go about installing apps? There appears to be no http or ftp server on the VPS as of yet so I'm unsure of how to put files on it. So far all I've been able to do is login via SSH and you can't do much from there lol. Are there any tutorials or documentation on what to do next?

A virgin VPS is essentially a computer running Linux with no software. You'll need to download and build or install the various libraries, apps, and services you'll need to do whatever you need. If you aren't sure of how to do this, the JPC staff will be willing to help. A lot of this can be automated if you choose to install a control panel like Interworks or CPanel.

By the way, to upload files with only SSH, check out WinSCP.

sort of. the VPS's come with whatever cPanel puts on there by default. So you should have all your FTP MySQL and HTTP services running.

You will probably have to set up some sub accounts to spereate your accounts. Unless you are just runnign one site and then you can just use the main site IP.

Only if you had cpanel installed by choice.
