    VPS too much?

    I had to move my site from shared to VPS because of too much traffic. The bulk of that traffic was from images being served/hot-linked. I moved my images and some other static content to another server and my VPS now seems like overkill. Before moving my images to another server I was chewing through ~6 gigs of bandwidth daily. Now that the iimages are gone and I'm just using my VPS to serve dynamic pages generated by a CMS I only use ~600MB a day! Overall server resouce consumption has also dropped to normal levels.

    Should I move my site to a shared environment and save $$$? It doesn't seem to make much sense leaving it on an expensive VPS when it doesn't need that much power anymore.

    I can't, it kills the server.

    oh, and add hot link protection
    My site allows hotlinking. Each image is a linkk back to my site so it's good for traffic.

    I think you answered your own question...
    So VPS is overkill then...
