that would depend on what each site is made of, how many visitors you expect. How well the VPS is optimized and many more factors.

Is that like a plan ? Like awalsh said it depends on a grat number of factors such as what software your running, site traffic, etc. It could turn out to not even be strong enough for one site or it could end up hosting 50 sites.
