I checked another site that I know is also on miranda and they are down also, so I'd say it is the whole server.

    Yes:

We apologize for the inconvenience. Our technicians are working to get this fixed and fsck is undergoin on the main hardware node. It will be fixed soon.

    And a maintenance email:
Due to the amount of data on the server it could take around 1-2 hours. Once
the file system check is done your VPS will be up again. I would like to thank you for you patience.

I hate being down, especially after moving here so recently. But I have to admit that Jag's customer service and email notifications are better than any of the other hosts I've been with.

Miranda miranda miranda... why do you torment us so? This server has been having troubles for around two weeks now from massive slowdowns to now full-blown crashing. Can we get a real ETA on when there is going to be a permanent solution to Miranda rather than these bandaids?

Update: Maintence e-mail said it would take 1-2 hours for sites to be back up. It has been 3 and a half hours since I received the e-mail. Server has been down at least 6 hours, possibly more.

Still down! This isn't something that just popped up. As someone mentioned earlier, this server has been having major issues lately and now this. This has totally killed my earnings today

I feel your pain. Especially on the highest traffic day of the week. However if you're losing a substantial amount of money when you have downtime (say more than $30 a month) why not get another account for $10 a month and backup your ad rotator on that account. Change the DNS and whoosh. Maybe it won't be your full service VPS, but it would sure beat being down.

I calculated once how much downtime has cost me-- it worked out to about how much it would cost me to install a failover system. So while I absolutely hate technical issues costing me money and feel the need to complain about it, I temper those emotions with the realization that I saved a ton of money by not implementing a failover, and the aggravation of failing everything over and back, too.

Thats a really great idea... the only problem I have is I switched to Jag because my last server had these kinds of problems: consistant downtime or high latency. I read lots of reviews and comments from customers from a variety of hosts, and also checked uptime vs downtime of different servers before I came here. Now that Jag is having so many problems, I'm wondering if I should get another server somewhere else. Why would I put a backup VPS on Jag and pay more money, when I could get one VPS with a better company? Sorry if I sound so frustrated... as I clearly am. lol

if there is a better company out there.. I don't know what it is. Failure happens in this biz...

After learning the hardway and dropping a HD one time, we now have contigency plans in the ready for such problems and make use of the backup plans Jag has as well.

If running a server (or VPS) is your source of income you should protect yourself in all possible ways. I'm not making light of your situation becuase it does indeed suck. But every problem has a timeline to fix it and teh Jag techs have always been some of the best out there.

I was thinking of just going shared with all my VPS sites. I have found JagPC's shared services to be way better than their VPS services. But the main reason I want a VPS is maintenance is a lot easier with my setup. *sigh, man I don't know what to do...

Jag may be just having some horrible luck this last month... I don't know. They were great from the reviews I read, and for the first month of service, but lately its been really bad. After the issue last week with huge latency and downtimes on my VPS, and 4 days of tickets of me saying "Something is wrong... my sites are taking 30 seconds+ to load, and even timing out at times" and dozens of Jag support responses saying "Everything is fine, please check again now", and the problem still being there. Greg assured me personally policies reguarding support tickets were going to changed and this won't happen again. But again this week, more than a day of extreme latency... I posted a ticket yesterday. I have made about 8 updates, received about 2 responses (same generic "nothing seems wrong" response), then the server died. I don't know what to think honestly.
