From VPS to bulk reseller or semi-dedicated?

I'm on Miranda VPS Freedom plan with Cpanel hosting only my own domains.

I've been doing a lot of VPS reading and have found that with "a VPS you will get less speed and performance than with a REASONABLY loaded semi-dedicated. A VPS has some advantages but speed and power are not it's strong points. It can perform reasonably but sometimes geting there might be tricky." I don't have the technical abilities nor time to mess around with Unix / Linux, to install, configure and update software (such as php / mysql / apache), etc. I'd like to recoup the performance I previously had with share/reseller hosting.

I'm trying to decide if I should switch to bulk reseller or semi-dedicated. I see that semi-dedicated has only 5% of the users of a shared hosting account. I know it's no guarantee, but less users makes me "feel" like there's a little less competition for resources. Would I still have access to WHM to set up individual domains, without the need to install/configure/maintain server software?

I'm definitely staying with Jag but think I need to move to a different plan. Before I bug support one more time, I'd like to ensure I'm making the right decision. Any suggestions or previous experience in this area is appreciated.

I dunno about that.... the accounts on the SDX will all be resource hungry, wouldn't they? I've had that question for a looooong time.

I'm on a bulk reseller plan, but I have the feeling that my server is getting slower, and slower as more accounts are added.

That's all I can add at them moment.

Semi-dedicated plans are shared accounts on servers with fewer users. They are designed for sites that are too big for traditional shared accounts, yet not quite ready to go dedicated. Semi-dedicated accounts would not be a good choice for reselling because they do not allow for multiple accounts (no WHM, secondary sites would have to be set up as multihosted domains which means clients would not have control pannels).

I'd imagine that the servers bulk reseller and semidedicated accounts are set up on are similar (number of bulk reseller accounts/server ~= number of semi-dedicated accounts/server). There is, however, no way to contol how many resold accounts get set up on each bulk reseller server, so as Ron mentioned, over time things could slow down.

Honestly, I'd expect performance to be about the same on any configuaration, but not having used anything but a shared server, I can't comment. My reasoning:

    * shared server: lots of sites, minimum of high resouce sites
    * semi-dedicated server: fewer sites, all resource intensive
    * bulk reseller server: lots of sites, minimum of high resouce sites
    * VPS: "few" VPS instances, software to manage resources and ensure everyone get's their fair share
