    [Newbie] Users & Domains

I'm new to VPS, and I come from shared hosting
On that envirorment, you have one ftp/ssh user/pass, and with thay user you can access all your domains, wich are just folders on the server.

When I add a new domain on my server (with Plesk), it asks me to create a new FTP/SSH user for every domain I create, and cannot repeat a user I created before

So I i want to see the files on example.com I have to connect with User: xxx and cannot see other domains
and if I want to see files on example1.com I have to connect with another user

I find this VERY unconfortable. Isn't there a way to make a SSH/FTP user with the permissions to access every single domain I create on my server?

    Thanks in advance

When you use plesk, you are running a server as if you are a hosting company, even if you aren't seeing the accounts you create. Each account is designed to be used by a separate user, and of course you don't want Joe User beign able to change Mary User's site.

Since you are the administrator of the server, you should have an account called "root." This is the sueperuser account--you can do anything as root. So, if you were logged in as root you'd be able to access Account A and Account B at the same time. Before you go using root for everything, though, let me give you this warning. There are no protections in place when you are root because everything that's there to protect users from doing stupid things is cancelled out by your being root. So be very careful about what you do as root, and avoid using it unless you absolutely must.

    Valechumbar.

What Jason said, and of course you can create accounts manualy with the right permissions to access all those folders as well. (however i would not recommend this unless you use such account as root account with the same caution as jason told).

If you however are talking about 1 customer with multiple domains, and therefor wants one userid/password combination to be able to enter all its data it may become a different story.

Now i don't know plesk and am more of a cpanel man, but there you can create add-on domains for a user, which then are build within the users main account. you get then something like /home/user1/public_html/ for its main website and /home/user1/public_html/yetanotherdomain-com/ for the add-on domains. Maybe you can find a function like that in plesk too. (if thats what you are searching for).

    Kindest regards,
    Patrick
