    newbie questions

    Hi there

    I got some questions

The DNS of the domain I put on my VPS signup form is configured by the staff when they setup the VPS? Or I have to do it?

Because the domain is not working.

If I have to do it, where I configured this, for that domain and for new ones.

    Thanks.

I also buy cpanel, but I dont know how to enter there.

The domain name should point to the right name servers (which should be included in your welcome e-mail). You do this at your registrar, so yeah, that's for you yourself to do. If you registered the domain via JaguarPC they might be able to do it for you, but I think you'll have to ask for that seperately.

To access your cPanel & WHM control panels, please use:

WHM (for root settings and account setups):
    http://YourIPAddress:2086

    cPanel (for indvidual accounts):
    http://YourIPAddress:2082
    OR
    http://YourDomain.com:2082

Once you are logged into WHM, you can click on "Basic cPanel/WHM Setup" to modify your nameservers. Once you have choosen your nameservers, you will need to login to your domain register to register your host name servers. Let us know which register you are using and we can give you more specific instrucitions/point you in the right direction .

    Actually, PLEASE use
    httpS://YourIPAddress:2087 (WHM)
    and
    httpS://YourIPAddress:2083 (CPanel)

    These will be secure connections.

    httpS://YourIPAddress:2087 (WHM) is not working

    neither the domain...

in a support ticket they tell me that my domain is not working because I didnt have a control panel

(I have the domain since december, and running in another hosting, I have changed the DNS to the one provided in my welcome mail, and now they are resolving nowhere (rockeame.net).

can i setup sites with ssh? or I need to buy a control panel?

(I bought it but they didnt put it on my vps because IŽll need more memory)

We don't recommend one way over the other to access your control panel, either http:// or https://.

If you did not opt for a control panel, than you cannot login to one . Currently it sounds like your account is setup with no control panel and you will need to create accounts via SSH. If you would like to get a control panel, please e-mail us at sales@jaguarpc.com for your options.

VPS is supposed to be managed, which means they can do a standard setup for you (with stuff like MySQL, Apache, PHP) and maintain it. I'm not 100% sure that goes for VPSses without control panel too though. It would be good if someone from JagPC shed some light on this (or if you could get back to all about it once you've heard from support).

Regardless: they do that sort of installation work only once you ask for it. So you'd probably best put in a ticket and find out.
