Question unmetered 2mbps vs 250gig data transfer

    Hi!

    What is the best?

Unmetered 2mbps bandwidth OR 250gig data transfer?

    (I have freedom plan vps)

    Unmetered 2mbps = 642 gigabyte per month
    250gig per month = 797 kbps

250 gig per month plan is capped to 2mbps or capped to higher mbps?

the 250gb is not capped, so in theory the max bandwidth available on any given time.

    Kindest regards,

If you do not need to use more than about 200Gb of bandwidth then the uncapped (100Mbps) service may be better for you, simple because it means the service is faster, however it does leave you open to excess bandwidth charges if for some reasons (Slashdot for example) you exceed your allocation and those charges could become expensive.

Are you really open to extra charges if you don't want to? A shared account is simply disconnected for the remainder of the month when it runs out of bandwith and no prior arrangements have been made. Is that option not available for VPS?

The 250 GB is not capped; that's the whole point of it. It won't ever effectively get you 100 Mbps out to the internet, but it will easily get you much more than 2.

The idea is that if you're prepared to accept a cap, they can offer you a much higher monthly total, because you can "clog up the pipes" only so much. I think it's an interesting option for users of the higher plans that would otherwise have to pay extra for the bandwith. As long as 250GB is enough for you, I think the choice is simple.
