[newbie]Transfering my site. Am I doing it the right way?

    Hi all,
This is my first time ever using VPS so Im very confused *___*
I tried my best to do all I can but I dont know if I do wrong somewhere so please tell me if I need to check something:
    1. I went to WHM, create an account (filled in the domain name and all other stuffs).
    2. I have my domain on 1and1, so I went there, changed the DNS nameservers to:
    ns3.nocdirect.com
    ns4.nocdirect.com

Now I only have to wait for 24-72 hours rite? Did I miss something?

BTW, if I want to access that account to upload the files now, and the domain is not working yet, what can I do?

Thanks everyone. What a noob I am *____*

I assume you're using a VPS. If so i would recommend setting up your own DNS server because that way you can set up a new domain whenever you like.

Thank you. Then I'll have to send a ticket to the support now rite?
BTW, I have a problem here:
Like I said, I set up an account already (lets name it myacount1, I logged in the cpanel, create mysql database + user: myacount1_user1). When open phpmyadmin, it shows me logged in as myaccount1@localhost --> so I cant import the database because the user with that privilege is myacount1_user1, but I cant log out of phpmyadmin too, it always shows: Wrong username/password. Access denied.

    Driving me crazy *___*

You'll have to set up the DNS by yourself, unless you're paying for a managed VPS that is?

What you might be trying to do is import the database onto your sql server rather than import the tables. I had a similar problem. Go to your old server and in phpmyadmin select the database then select all the tables and export those. Then you can go into the new database in phpmyadmin and import all the tables into the new database. What i think you're trying to do is import an old database directly onto the sql server with phpmyadmin which i'm not sure you can do.

I might however be totally wrong but it's worth a shot.

Thank you, I will try to read some tutorial first ^^, and the problem with the database was solved by a walk-around.

Anyway, rite now when I access my domain I have this error "Firefox can't find the server at www.mydomain.net". I dont know if this should happen? It was pointing to my old sever (which is still up and running), so I assume it's pointed to the new server already? But why the error? I wonder if I did something wrong, but I'll wait a few hours first I guess.

Perhaps you could write down what this "walk-around" was so if others have the same problem they might find it helpful?

It means that your DNS hasn't been set up yet. Go to www.whois.org and see if your domain has the correct name servers. If it does then you're just waiting on Jaguar to create the dns entries their end.

I use the phpmyadmin of WHM, it's a work around because if you do set up an account for someone else not you then you cant do it *_*. Doesnt matter for me tho, coz I use this for my site only.

All VPS's at JPC are managed, so if you are having a problem, just let support know and they will try and help, they are ONLY supposed to deal with pre installed software etc, but I have found if asked the right way (politely etc) they will go out of their way to help.
