    Frequent DNS Errors

Two times today, and once yesterday I have had large (3+ hour) downtimes in which whenever I go to my site, instead of getting my site I got this:

I checked my QoS, and I noticed numfile and numproc are both going into the Black zone. Why is this? I am not running anything resource intensive, and even during the downtime, all of the resources are in the green zone. What gives? And it is not like this is happening at peak times either. The last one (according to many customers who e-mailed me) occured around 5:00 AM EST, and the most recent one occured around 3:30 EST. If this helps I am on server ulysses.nocdirect.com.
    What's wrong?

    Ah... a fellow 1&1 client!

Are you sure you have your DNS settings setup correctly over there?

Yes I am. The site is working right now (www.zendurl.com). And yes the domain is at 1and1 because it just wasn't worth the bother to transfer it (I originall was there and then got hacked because I had unsafe php.ini settings, hence my switch to a VPS).

Support gave me a satisfactory result.
In the end it was that I was using to many processes on the VPS, and they increased the number for me. However it may be time for an upgrade since they said the RAM was associated with those values, and my ram is only 256 MB.
Also I have a question. I noticed that I have used 40% of my inodes already compared to something like 15% of my disk space. Will upgrading my plan give me more inodes?

Inodes are are compared to the total of files on your system, so upgrading and getting more diskspace may raise the inodes, but you better ask support if they can't raise this setting for you.

If going for more RAM, be sure you did everything you can to prevent it from growing, i.e. the PHP to CGI move JPC did make on their servers did get the memory useage stabilized, i also did make this change on our VPS and noticed exactly the same.

Must say i have one package higher as yours at the moment, as i feel 256 is really the minimal requirements with cpanel installed. But i do not know which CP you are using, if any.

    Kindest regards,
    Patrick

I use cPanel, and all of my customers use cPanel. Also you mentioned asking support for more inodes? Does that mean that when I am beginning to reach my limit they could grant me a higher limit without me upgrading? I know I am going to upgrade eventually, but I would like to wait as long as possible.
