What are you hosting on your VPS

    Hey guyz,

Not sure if theres a current thread on this or not... But I thought it'll be an idea to get a list of websites currently running off the JaguarPC VPS.

Mention what plan your on if you want, give potential customers an idea of speed of sites, etc, and just to give us something to do when we're bored... Look around each others home away from home...

    Plan: Freedom VPS
    Website: http://commodorelife.com/

Currently running a VBB forum, about a dozen coppermine photo galleries for friends and trying to help another friend get a net presence online for his business.

I'm not using my VPS to host a site... I'm using it to serve static images for my primary site. I also use it as a replication mysql server in order to keep a backup for my databases.

Really? That's a pretty cool setup if it works.

I wonder how often a replication database gets corrupted when the primary goes south?

Are you using it just for a hot spare, or are you using it for actual data security. In other words, do you perform other backups to ensure data integrity?

It actually works pretty well if you set it up right. The idea behind this is to have a good backup solution with my current budget. When I got my first dedicated server, I was performing nightly backups but my site was left unresponsible for about 30 mins. Now I just have to shut down the mysql slave server (the vps) and perform the backup on the VPS. When the backup is done, I just start the slave server and it begins to receive the replication data from the master server.

You can also do it by restoring your bin logs from the master server into the slave server (without the replication thing) and it should works fine too.

I'm just testing it for now, but I'm sure I'll get it right. I have some problems with the slave server and I guess I need to read a little bit more before it all works fine.

I don't want to worry about backups anymore

I am on the Freedom Plan as well.. I have only one site on there at the moment:

    http://www.chess-knights.com

This is turn-based (correspondence-style) chess site, using a graphical chessboard online; the chess software uses ratings, teams play, tournaments. The front end I use is php-nuke, but I am looking closely at changing this to dragonfly, and integrating the play chess software into the cms.

My present setup is nuke as the front end, and the play chess software is separate, but with a similar color theme. I then pass the userinfo from nuke to the standalone play chess software.

    :-)

I have two sites on my VPS one is the old Youtube clone site.

The other that I have spent countless hours on and the site has really gotten busy the last week is http://getthehiv.com it's an Opie and Anthony XM radio fan site myspace clone. It's running vBulletin as it's message board.

The site still has some bugs especially with the forum style keeping up with the rest of the site but it's still usable now. Not sure of the traffic because there was hardly any till around Christmas.

My server is on the Apollo plan and it is running Cpanel.
