To be honest, if you're not very familar with the cli you're going to have problems. The first VPS i had was webmin and i found it quite hard getting everything working. I'm now a lot more familiar with the cli but wouldn't recommend webmin. It's fine when it is working but i had to do a lot of fiddling with various things to get it working correctly.

Can't you pay for plesk or something similar?

I have Cpanel/Whm but that does not help with firewall setting ect. I am having a little bit if a difficult time getting the syntax for iptables correct so I can allow things to get through the firewall. For this webmin is a great help to me......I know it is a crutch but it is allowing me to get things done untill I gain more experiance with the command line.

I started with computers back in the days of MS Dos and worked with large batch files there. So command line is not totally foreign to me, but linux is different then dos.

Thanks for the reply I appreciate any help I can get,

    John

I have found these pages incredibly useful for a quick-and-dirty guide to how to use iptables (no long discussions; just brief explanations and some sample commands):

And if you want to save your rules:
