    I tried that link:
Fatal error: Incompatible file format: The encoded file has format major ID 2, whereas the Optimizer expects 1; The encoded file was probably encoded by the Zend Encoder for PHP 5 (zendenc5), and therefore cannot be run on PHP 4 in /home/<YourAccount>/public_html/shop/index.php on line 0
From that error message it seems to me you need to be running PHP5

Fortunately given that you're on VPS, that shouldn't be a problem.

A note of caution though: are you sure you want that particular shopping cart? Because of the encryption you won't be able to make any addition or fix to it yourself, nor can you have anyone other than the original programmer of the application make such for you. This includes for example security fixes needed after the original programmer has decided not to provide (free) updates any longer.

To me the application would have to be quite unique before I'd go with that restriction. There are good free, open carts too. OSCommerce and deriviate Zen Cart are two well known examples.
