Hello!
I would like to free up some space on my vps.
Where can I find unnecessary files, like unnecessary log files etc etc?
Can I delete completly all of the files from /tmp ??

Well.. supposedly, yes. But where in doubt, how about a backing up the files you'll delete first?
I'd look for logs in /var/log, but that might be specific to the Debian boxes I'm used too. Again consider backing up whatever might still be relevant before removing it form your VPS.

yes you can delete /tmp files
if you installed eaccelerator delete cache folder
check apache logs /usr/local/apache/logs/
you can delete error log and access log, but after that you need to restart apache and system will create new empty files.
same for cpanel logs /usr/local/cpanel/log
if you use cpanel, check for install folder (usually /home/.cpan/) you can delete entire folder with all files. Same for .core files
/var/logs you can delete only archived files ending with .gz
/usr/local/apache/domlogs/ if you delete this logs statistic will not work, better to run statistic script, so it will empty logs automaticly
Heh! Think Pink!
Good advice!![]()

Thanks to all for the help!!!
I have some more for cpanel users
disable analog statistic and webalizer (one statistic program is enough - awstat) Statistic programs use a lot of system resource and you do not need them all. Take only awstat (or webalizer if you like it more)
in WHM disable analog and webalizer
shell login to root
rm -rf /home/*/tmp/analog/*
rm -rf /home/*/tmp/webalizer/*
rm -rf /home/*/tmp/webalizerftp/*
