    VPS performance

    Hi,

I was wondering how much raw power that actually exist in a VPS (Freedom) solution. In the sales material it says:

    - Equal share Dual Opteron CPU's
    - Host Machine w/ Dual CPU
    - RAID10 Storage, 8 Gig RAM
    - 256 MB Gurantueed RAM

Thats cool - but an "equal share"... thats pretty hard to meassure. How much power does this really translate to?

How many sites and what kind of sites would this solution be able to cope with in order to get decent response times? How many Joomla sites could it host for instance?

    Thanks for listening.

    /Allanpro

It completely depends on what the sites are doing and running. Ive seen one of our vps accounts not be able to run one site well, very big hitters. Ive seend vps accounts running over 170 sites. Since im not too familiar with Joomla I cant really give you an educated guess on that. Equal share is just that and the machines are dual opteron, dual core dual opteron, and we're looking at the new dual core intels that have recently shown up. Divide that by 15-25 vps accounts per node. Again all of that varies from node to node depending on how much resources a vps are actually demanding.
